The Spanish Princess

BlueBolt was the sole VFX studio on the second series of The Spanish Princess, an eight-part episodic drama for Carnival Films / Starz retelling the story of Queen Catherine and Henry VIII’s presiding over the most glamorous court in Europe. BlueBolt delivered 347 shots for the series (during lockdown), including large-scale environment extensions to the London Docks, the Battle of Flodden, and military camp extensions, in addition to huge CG armies and CG ships. The BlueBolt team were also tasked with conveying the grand scale of The Field of the Cloth of Gold. In a sweeping aerial shot, the encampments of the English, French and Spanish armies are revealed and BlueBolt added hundreds of additional CG tents, digital characters, horses, flags and period detail, to recreate the meeting of thousands of people at the famous historical event.
